Our days are a trek through the wilderness. Our work seems like labor in a desert or in a jungle. We are tired, torn, and traumatized. We are weary of the fray. We’re in danger of losing heart and throwing in the towel. Is there an answer?
The people of Israel felt the same way. “Take us back to Egypt,” they cried. “At least we will not die in this wilderness.” Then God answered their need. He gave them bread from heaven. All they had to do was go out and gather it each morning. What a blessing this was, food for the tough journey of life.
When Jesus Christ came into the world, He presented Himself as the true bread from heaven. “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven” (John 6:51). Incredibly enough, Jesus offered His own flesh and blood as food for the journey of life. “My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink,” He said (John 6:55). And Christ promised life through this heavenly food. “This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate, and died, he who eats this bread shall live forever” (John 6:58).
Do you need inner strength renewed to face the battles of life? Entrust yourself to Jesus Christ. He will feed you living bread.
