Confessing Christ

To be assured of a place in heaven with God and to be saved from the awful wrath of God against your sins, you must confess Jesus Christ as Lord. “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved” (Romans 10:9).

To truly confess Jesus as Lord means several things. You must believe the divine Son of God came into the world to die on the cross in payment for sin (Mark 10:45). You must believe God raised Him bodily from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:4). You must believe this same Jesus ascended bodily into heaven (Acts 1:9). You must also believe Jesus Christ now reigns as Lord of heaven and earth (Matthew 28:28, Acts 2:33).

Not only so, you must personally trust in the death of Christ as the only adequate payment for your sins. You must trust in Christ’s resurrection as proof that God accepted His death as adequate payment for your sins. You must commit yourself to serve Jesus Christ as your Lord. Finally, you must confess with your mouth before other men and women, preferably in a local Bible-believing church body, what you believe in your heart before God (Matthew 10:32).

Do you trust Christ as Lord? Have you confessed Jesus Christ as Lord?
